Hello there, I’m Allie!
Grab a cuppa, cwtch up & have a read of my blog…
About me:
I’m a Welsh writer who loves reading, eating & drinking tea.
I started writing short stories when I was a kid and I won my first competition at the age of six in my school Eisteddfod. As I grew up, I made monthly magazines for my family and continued my love of writing stories in small notebooks.
After overcoming bone cancer at the age of fourteen, I continued my writing and gained five GCSE’s. I was offered a place at Royal Holloway University a few years later to study English & Creative Writing after submitting a piece of writing to be reviewed. After graduating in 2014, I went on to complete a Masters in Creative Writing which I passed with merit in 2015.
I also won ‘Best Writing on a Blog’ at the Wales Blog Awards in 2014.
I now work in Digital Marketing.
About my cancer:
I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma – a rare form of bone cancer – in 2008 when I was in my mid-teens. I had 9 months of chemo & surgery in between. They replaced the affected bone – my femur – as well as my knee and part of my calf with a titanium joint so I’m now part metal!
As well as having cancer myself, I also lost my wonderful father to it in 2013 so I have first hand experience of being the patient and the bereaved family member.
You can find out more about my story as well as my tips for cancer patients under the ‘Health & Fitness’ tab on my site – I hope it helps a little x
