The snow is just about beginning to melt in Wales & if 4 days inside the house has taught me something, it’s that I really should keep up with writing a blog!
It’s also taught me that eating my weight in chocolate digestives and justifying it with ‘it’s cold, I need more fat’ is not the right way to go.
Anywho, I have some good news to share with you all – woohoo!
My heart will go on…and on…
Last week, I went for my annual cardiology appointment and it went swimmingly!
I’ve been on Ramipril (a tablet used for high blood pressure & strengthening the heart muscle) for about a year now. I only take a very small dose so it doesn’t affect me too much, despite the fact I have relatively low blood pressure.
I’ve haven’t had any side effects apart from feeling a little lightheaded when I stand up too quickly!
Anyway, at my most recent appointment, I was told that the medication is working and my heart is getting stronger.
The ejection fraction of my heart is now up to 50% which is borderline normal! Normal is 55% and the Ramipril was helping to get mine up from around 45%, according to the doctor we saw.
So the good news is that, of course, because the heart is a muscle, I can help to make it a bit stronger myself by exercising regularly.
But also, because the Ramipril seems to be doing it’s thang effectively, they’ve doubled my dose. Hopefully, this will all help to make my heart that little bit stronger 🙂
I had an encounter at the hospital that made me think more about the food I’m eating too.
A guy was pushing a baby up and down the corridor and each time he passed, the baby was getting a little more sleepy.
He struck up a conversation with us and it turned out that he’d had a little girl with neuroblastoma who was treated in the same children’s hospital as me a few years ago. Unfortunately, she had passed away but he had told me that he and his wife had helped to keep her immune system up by making recipes from Kris Carr’s Crazy, Sexy Diet.
He recommended it as he said it was really interesting to see the power of nutrition and said it might help me.
Since then, I’ve had a look at Kris Carr’s website and downloaded her starter kit so I’ll let you know how I get on.
Moving on up
I also have exciting life news to elaborate on – I bought a flat!!
Yaaaas I did! Really!
It’s a new build so I’ve started from scratch and got carpets fitted, bought an IKEA sofa, chose my curtains and generally become an all round boring adult who talks about house stuff all the time.
Honestly though, I’m so excited to start this new chapter in a place of my own and I really hope I’ll be able to do more writing & reading there.
Well, I won’t have broadband for the first few weeks so I’ll have to do some reading!
Anyway, that concludes my ramblings for now!
Hope you’re all doing well 🙂

This is wonderful.
