Time For A Change | News

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Can you believe that babies born in 2000 are now allowed to legally enter a nightclub? Because I cannot.

This year, I’ll be 25 and there are going to be plenty of changes afoot.

So, what’s coming up?

Well…

First of all, I’m going to be buying my own place which is SO exciting. Hopefully, it’ll be all mine within the next two months so Pinterest is currently my favourite thing. Muted colours galore.

Secondly, you may have noticed that I’ve merged my cancer advice website with this blog to make one website which makes my life a lot easier! Everything can be found under the Health & Fitness tab at the top of the page 🙂

My blog is going to be updated twice a month for the rest of the year. I’ve said it now so I have to do it – eek!

Finally, 2018 marks ten years since I was diagnosed – woohoo! – which is a massive milestone for me and makes me SO happy! Time to start feeling better about myself and taking better care of my body.

2017 goals…achieved?

Sad to say that I didn’t achieve too many of my goals from last year – boo, hiss!

My goal was to read 2 books a month and even that didn’t go to plan. I was shit.

This year, I’m not going to set myself a reading challenge but I am going to make the most of the time I do have to read.

I also wanted to blog more which went really badly – the weekends just fly by! Must try harder.

Last year, I said I would definitely finish my book. I didn’t even write one word of it.

I think when I have my own place, I’ll find it much easier to write whenever I want to so fingers crossed, I’ll actually finish it this year.

I did do more charity events – woohoo! – and even abseiled off a very big bridge.

This year, I’m doing Dry January and Walk All Over Cancer again this March which is really exciting!

Last year, I said I was going to New York. That didn’t happen. But I bought a flat instead so yay!!

I also realised that exercising every day is just not realistic for my body at all – my leg ends up aching so much.

So now I’m going to be working out 3 times a week but I am making sure I walk more with the help of my FitBit.

I also want to practice mindfulness more this year so my mind isn’t in overdrive all the time. I’m currently doing a course on FutureLearn which is really helpful – it’s the focus I need!

Talking of courses, I’m educating myself a lot more this year – I’ve got a few courses lined up on FutureLearn and more stuff in a folder on my laptop that I want to check out – I’ll keep you updated.

My final goal for last year was to go to more poetry evenings or plays or book readings, just to remind myself how lovely these things can be. And I did achieve that this year – I managed to go to a few plays as well as the Hay Festival which was amazing. If you ever get to see Letters Live, I’d highly recommend it!

And that’s all my goals for this year – I’m not setting myself any limits in terms of how many books I’ll read, words I’ll write or workouts I’ll do but I’m determined to work hard and chill even harder.

What are your goals this year? Let me know 🙂
